Earth Day at Anola School
This year here at Anola School we will be celebrating Earth Day on April 21st, 2016. One of the many activities we will be doing and encouraging to do is bringing a litter less lunch. A litter less lunch means that instead of sending lunches in a paper or plastic bag you send your child of with a reusable lunch carrier. It means you replace things such as plastic wrap, foil, wax or Styrofoam with reusable glass or plastic containers. It also means that instead of plastic fork, spoons, etc. you send reusable, washable cutlery. Click here to find out more about litter less lunches.
A litter less lunch helps the environment greatly because it waste-free, cheaper, healthier and it reduces packaging waste. Not only can you do this on April 21st but any other day too. By doing this all year, once a month, or once a week your helping us step by step grow into a better, cleaner community. A community clean-up will be scheduled on a drier, warmer day in May.
As well, during our Earth Day Celebrations we plan to plant seed in recycled soup can planters. In order for students to participate in this Earth Day activity, students will need to bring in their own empty and washed soup cans. Please send your child to school on Thursday April 21st with an empty and washed soup can.
